It’s Disney’s 100-year anniversary and what once was all about animations Disney is now all about the live action versions of their classics. How’s that working out for them?

Disney is a huge film making phenomena founded by Walt Disney in 1923. Since then he has made 494 films which are slowly being remade into live action films. The first ever live action film was Treasure Island released in 1950 this was only the start of live action films.

According to the website ‘Box Office Mojo’ it shows that Disney’s live action Lion King is the top Disney live action remake released July 19, 2019 making a lifetime gross of $543,638,043 and when released they had made an opening price of $191,770,759.

The live action remake in 2nd place is Beauty and the Beast which stars Emma Watson, the well-known star of the Harry Potter film franchise, and was released March 17 2017. The film has made a lifetime gross of $504,014,165 and when released it had made an opening income of $174,750,616.

In 3rd place it is the Jungle Book which was released April 15 2016, it has made a lifetime gross of $364,001,123 and when released it had made an opening income of $103,261,464. These are the top 3 live action movies.

Not all Disney live actions went to plan though as Snow White live action has been controversial it is due to come out in 2024 but some people are not happy with the casting choice as the actor Rachel Zegler in the lead role. One of the other controversial topics is the dwarfs. They are a walking diverse band of merry men but they aren’t like the originals as the men are all different heights and genders that this gives the film more of a look to todays world where we are all equal. New York post says Disney’s live action snow-white takes wokeness to absurd new look. https://nypost.com/2023/07/17/disneys-live-action-snow-white-takes-wokeness-to-absurd-new-low/
